A passion was brewing in the streets of Augsburg in 1527, a burning desire in the early Anabaptists to spread the faith. This drive was so relentless that nearly all who attended the infamous “Martyrs Synod” would be martyred for their missionary zeal. Dean Taylor, Stephen Russell, and Reagan Schrock guide you through the incredible church growth that resulted from this early Anabaptist missionary zeal. This documentary introduces the key groups and individuals who played a role in that growth. Perhaps the most inspiring story is that of the Hutterites and their early leaders such as Jacob Hutter and Peter Riedemann. These leaders refused to take up the sword, in contrast to another Anabaptist leader: Balthasar Hubmaier. Persecuted and exiled, these first Hutterites’ perseverance in laying down their lives to spread the Gospel is a resounding challenge to the church today.
